If you haven't done these already it's one way to cut it down. Under the Settings section is a Comment tab. From here there's a section called "Who Can Comment" and you can change it so that anonymous people can't. Also, if you're dealing with a lot of spam then you'll want to go to some of the options further down called, "Show word verification for comments?"
Thanks for stopping by my blog. :) If you want to allow annonymous comments, the best thing to do is to approve comments on posts over (x) amount of days old. Most of my spam was on older posts. I got so much that I stopped allowing annonymous comments. My e-mail is very visible on my page, as is yours. If someone wants to comment, they can shoot you an e-mail. any questions? I'm here to help. gail I'm off to look around

Also if you go into live wire, there is a trash can below each comment and you can just trash them.
