Hutch Redo & and winner of the giveway is.............

I went threw this phase ( still going threw it) where i think everything looks better BLACK...everything in are house is Black! My husband doesnt care what i do with are house as long as there is no more BLACK....(little details dont count). I got this hutch a few years ago at an Estate sale....and painted it......Black, but my SNL just taught me how to paint like this....So what better to try it on then this black hutch. I think it turned out SO cute, and it brightens up my house.

Doesnt it look like i spent all day distressing it, with 50 different paint colors??? Well i didnt, and im going to tell you how i did it, if you dont know how to paint like this......

1st- sand surface down ( a little to ruff the it up)

2nd-paint it white WHITE you dont have to get it all even...splotchy adds charictor

3rd-sand around eddges to destress it some

4th-add stain ( a darker one) leave it on for a few mins. and wipe it off

And you done...

your kids and YOu might be a little high off of all the fums so BEWARE!!

Bench Before & After

I got this Bench at the Good will this past weekend for &10.00...way OVER priced, and the manager refused to go down. I still thought it would just be cheaper to buy it then to make it....So here she is....NOt so pretty!!
I'm trying to get my girls room put together, so over the next few days hopefully it will be finished, but that is what i will most likely be posting on...(hope that's not to boring) So this is how the bench turned out, it will be going at the foot of her bed....

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the legs yet...any suggestions?? (besides cutting them off and putting new ones on!!)

Old Window & Giveaway!

I have been looking for Old window FOR forever...i did find some that had the glass in it BUT...i do have 3 small kid and they are really old, SO i had to break the glass out of a few. I sanded this baby down (a little)....IT was so hard for me not to paint it black( i paint everything black). i cut out a star, out of wood, painted it and hung it with some fabric.

Im going to do another post on what i do with the other one...IM So excited!

Decorative books, and dollar store birdies!

So are thift store is awesome, we have a Huge bin of 5 cent books. I got all of these books in that bin. I just took a sheet of sand paper and sanded them down...EASy and cheap my two favorite things!

I found these little chickens and stuff at the Dollar STORe, Yes the dollar store i think they are the Cutest things Ever...i think i will paint the birdies pink and put them in my little girls room!

HEad Board to BENCH!!

Over at 'The lettered Cottage" she has a video on how to make a head board into a bench. I had to make one! my husband bought me a set of power tools a few christmas's ago, and i love using them,but this was def my first big project...i followed the video exactly and just figured my own measurements out... here is the video

Baby leggings

Sun dress!

I made this dress this past summer and i love it..IT was the perfect summer dress, and I'm sad to say that she is growing out of it.... Thift Store finds this weekend!

i found this lamp at the TS and i lOVEd it...i new exactly what i was going to do with it......

My Sister n law has something like this at her house, and i wanted one So i made one. i even got the wreath at the thrift store for like 25 cents! I just took the lamp apart, took all the shiney stuff off. Then i just put it back together by tinkering!!

i hung the W with some fabric! I found the W at Walmart...it was $2.00 it cost more then the base. Crazy!

We were desperate for a Hamper...are hamper was the floor and it was driving me NUTS! i would of just bought one, but the are like 30 to 40 bucks just at walmart...No thanks im cheap! So i found this baby at the thrift store in good shape and it was only a buck.

In this picture it doesnt look to bad...but it was.

some spray paint and it looks great.. I love it and now we have a HAMPer...cant beat that for a buck and some paint!

p.S. i love the thrift store...you just have to go there with an open mind of what you can do with all the junk there!

White Heart Burlap Wreath

I made this cute Burlap heart wreath Tonight 15 min. so easy and so cute for Valentines day. I got the idea over at Craftaholic http://diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com/2010/01/white-burlap-heart-door-decor-with.html She made this CUTE CUTE burlap wreath. The only thing i did different...is i used 1 hanger..i didnt cut it or anything, just bent it to the way i wanted! Also i used a yard of fabric and i think she only used 1/3.
you can use anything to make this tho...ribbion, or any other fabric that you like!
ALSO

This is another $ 1 store find...you can buy these cups LArge or small and you buy the candle stick they have a few to choose from. The picture below is a candle stick i already had...So you can do either.

OR

This is the one that i bought at the dollar store. Hot glue it together. and you have a cute decoration for any holiday!

Just add all your little nic nacs...i used most of my stuff form Christmas...these are big and small ornaments! you can basically add anything. For Christmas i stuffed them with pine cones and poinsettia's*

Family Board

Supplies
Old piece of wood OR new youll just have to sand it more
Palm sander OR sheets of sand paper
2 colors of paint
paint brush
saw if you need to cut it (if you have to buy the wood your hardware store will cut it for you, if you have the measurements.

I Found this peice of old wood (one of Jeremys old forms for concrete. SHhh dont tell)
my board was the right length so i didnt need to cut it
First i painted my base color which was white
Then i stenciled the letters to FAMILY on it ( you can print them off your computer....OR free hand
Painted in my letters Black
when it was all dry i went to sanding.....couldnt find the palm sander,but with this old form the paint just came right off with the sheet of sand paper!


Then Hang it and enjoy! you can have it say what ever you want....i want to make one that says : CHERISH every moment, and also one for the Kitchen that says : Fresh Eggs!
